Queens Road Charges for Parking!

Please see below a statement I have just received from Nigel Thompson of Skate Central.  I have put most of this statement on the Midlands website but omitted to put the alternative parking suggestions.

These are contained below.

As you are aware, the Grosvenor casino group are refurbishing the entire building and as a consequence they have decided that in line with most other city centre establishments, the car park is to become “Pay & Display”. These charges apply to everyone, including Skate Central staff and myselfc

The benefits are that the site will have a security presence and new lighting has been installed

The tariffs are effective from Monday 7th December and they are:

First half hour free (drop off & pick up)
Upto 2 hours = £1.00
Upto 3 hours = £1.50
Upto 4 hours = £2.50
All Day = £3.00

THE CAR PARK WILL  BE FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE CASINO FROM 10PM

If you do not wish to pay these charges for the convenience of parking on site, I have listed some alternatives:

1.      I have negotiated with B & Q to use a section of their car park for free and the area agreed upon is the corner of the car park near to their trade entrance on the corner of Queens Road & Duchess Road and I would suggest that you place a note on your dash advising that you have permission to park there from the B & Q Management whilst you are visiting Skate Central. This agreement is subject to them having no hassle or litter to pick up, SO ABUSE AND YOU LOOSE IT!

2.      Free street parking is available at the side of the rink on Farm Road, opposite the rink on Edmund Road and surrounding streets, all of which are only a minute or so walk to the rink

Kind Regards,

Nigel Thompson
